Viral Cucumber Salad

Course Salad

Ingredients
  

  • 2 large cucumbers English or Persian preferred
  • 1/4 red onion thinly sliced
  • 2 clove garlic minced
  • 2-3 tbsp rice vinegar or white vinegar
  • 1-2 tbsp soy sauce or tamari
  • 1-2 tbsp sesame oil or neutral oil
  • 1-2 tsp sugar or honey to taste
  • 1 tsp chili flakes or chili crisp optional for heat
  • 1-2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 2-3 tbsp fresh herbs cilantro, parsley, or green onion
  • Pinch salt and black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Wash cucumbers and pat dry
  • Slice cucumbers into thin rounds or half-moons
  • Thinly slice red onion and mince the garlic
  • In a bowl, whisk together vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, salt, and pepper
  • Add cucumbers, onion, and garlic to the bowl
  • Toss until everything is well coated
  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds, chili flakes, and fresh herbs
  • Chill for 10–20 minutes, if time allows, for flavors to develop
